DKV is an NFT project on the Solana blockchain featuring adorable anthropomorphised cartoon donkeys. Holders of our NFTs can receive rewards of our utility token (DKV) through playing our play-to-earn tycoon-loop idle game, Idle Donkeys, launching 1 August 2026.
Our goal is to create the maximum utility, enjoyment and added value for our community. We also hold regular community events such as free-to-play poker nights — played for fun only, with no real-money wagering — with exclusive poker-themed NFT traits as prizes.
DKV began minting in late December 2024, with a programmable, dynamic NFT collection of our first base character, Herbert.
Minting is done in SOL, with the collection comprised of generative artwork, with ten 1-of-1 NFTs in the collection, distributed by random mint. At the time of writing, five 1-of-1 NFTs remain to be minted.
Idle Donkeys is a tycoon-loop P2E game that can be played for free by holders and non-holders alike. Holding DKV NFTs also unlocks the ability for players to be rewarded in DKV tokens that can be used both in-game and across the other parts of the Donkeyverse ecosystem.
Idle Donkeys is a world first in its class of game. Dodgy donkeys manage a variety of suspiciously profitable farms to build an equine agricultural empire. DKV NFTs are used as powerful in-game assets that can be upgraded permanently on the blockchain to give in-game bonuses. Players using NFTs are rewarded both for their investment in purchasing DKV NFTs and also the time spent playing the game — via an earnings cap that increases with the number of NFTs being used in the game (up to 14 in one game) and the number of times players complete the game loop.
The game combines the classic clicker idle game style with strategic elements in both gameplay and in the upgrading of NFT traits to customise in-game performance.
The Donkeyverse utilises the DKV SPL token as the reward token for our P2E game and the main currency for other parts of the Donkeyverse ecosystem, such as lootboxes and quests. Our in-game trait store also uses DKV for some higher-level traits.

DKV uses the NFT staking platform created by GOTM Labz. As the main focus of our project is the Idle Donkeys P2E game, NFT staking is primarily used as a security mechanism to freeze and secure holders' NFTs in the event of their wallet being compromised.
DKV NFT staking features 2FA protection, which allows holders to transfer their NFTs to a new wallet in the event of a wallet compromise or hack. Stakers will be able to passively earn a small amount of DKV tokens via staking, however the main vector for earning DKV will be via the game. Additional airdrops or staking rewards from partnerships with other Solana projects is something the team will also be securing.
DKV NFTs are dynamic, which means the visual appearance and metadata of the NFT can be altered. This allows holders to customise their NFTs for an exclusive aesthetic look, or tailor them for preferred in-game performance. As there are a limited number of traits on each NFT, this adds an element of strategy for game players in terms of which performance axes they choose to upgrade.
DKV uses the trait store developed by GOTM Labz. Traits can be purchased in two ways: directly from the store, or from within the game using one of the three in-game currencies. Traits purchased in-game are added to your inventory in the trait store, ready to be applied.
Traits are ranked in several tiers depending on rarity and/or the level of in-game performance boost they give. Most traits can be purchased within Idle Donkeys using the three in-game currencies. There are also ultra-rare traits sold only for SOL in the trait store, plus exclusive poker-themed traits obtainable only by winning our free-to-play community poker nights (for fun only — no real-money wagering).
Trait swapping is simple: select the DKV NFT you wish to upgrade, apply the traits you want to add or swap, and sign the wallet transaction. Your DKV NFT is permanently changed on the blockchain and the in-game performance updates almost instantly.

It's been a wild ride since we started the project.
What has evolved into the Donkeyverse began back in December 2021 in what was anticipated to be a 3-month long, art-only NFT project.
Being donkeys, the natural place to start was on the XRPL, which didn't support NFTs and was almost immediately affected by the long-running lawsuit between Ripple and the SEC. After launching under the project name XRDonkeys, since NFTs weren't yet a thing, the project issued tradeable IOU tokens that were to be redeemed for NFTs when they became fully supported by the Ledger.
The first ever NFTs produced by the project were issued in January 2022, using the now-deprecated XLS14 format — some of the first ever NFTs minted on the XRPL, issued in highly limited series.
The waiting continued to be able to mint our first main collection, so we started hosting free-to-play poker nights — played for fun only, no real-money wagering — something we continue to do today with our community.
Proper NFTs finally went live on the XRPL in November 2022, with XRDonkeys again among the first projects to mint NFTs on the XRPL. We successfully minted a number of collections that rewarded holders with staking rewards in a number of different XRPL tokens, with our later collections still rewarding holders to this day, plus a number of collaborations with other XRPL NFT projects.
We also dropped a side project, Pixel XSkullz — a free 10k NFT collection that minted out in 9 minutes, crashing the website of the XRPCafe marketplace and knocking it offline. Another first for the donkeys which hasn't yet been repeated. Pixel XSkullz was also chosen as the cover artwork for the music NFT "322," one of the first of its kind on the XRPL.
As the world of NFTs evolved, we evolved with it. Utility was the new black — something still effectively in its infancy on the XRPL due to the Ledger not supporting smart contracts. It was time to branch out to other chains. Being donkeys, we chose the new Venom chain and were among the top NFT projects until the foundation behind Venom decided to rug their own blockchain and lose most of its builders and community support with some very poor decisions.
In the meantime we had started developing the idea of using our NFTs as in-game assets in play-to-earn gaming. Solana beckoned, and the Donkeyverse was born.
We moved over to Solana in mid-2024, joining the now-defunct GOTM DAO, with the intention of having our NFTs featured in the play-to-earn game that had been under development for over 2 years. Times change and projects pivot, with the game being shelved and the DAO disbanded.
There was only one thing left for a bunch of idle donkeys to do — learn to code and build our own game. After many months of hair pulling, testing and breaking stuff, we now have the world's first tycoon-loop idle game with full NFT and blockchain integration, called appropriately Idle Donkeys. Our vision of NFTs being upgradeable in-game assets, where players were rewarded for both their investment in the NFTs and the time they spend playing, is now a reality.
So yeah, we've seen a lot since we started out. The bulls, the bears, the good, the bad and the ugly. We're still here working hard to add value and innovation for our community. We'd love for you to join us.
